NSW health promoting antivaping stance on Twitter

Whoever said QLD was the thin edge of the prohibitionist edge was right. They're starting the push in NSW now:

With 2 million vapers in UK alone, you have to wonder how they're going to enforce this, arresting visitors at the airport?

Interesting they clearly say possession of nic is illegal on the basis of being a schedule 7 poison.

We need to get it accurately scheduled stat.

Here's the thing, it's actually a schedule 6 poison (dangerous but legal to possess) but also a schedule 7 poison (possession may be illegal without a permit).
It's a schedule 6 if in an approved NRT device or where the intended use is in the treatment of animals.
Possession for any other purpose without permission is an offense.

The twitter post links to the Electronic Cigarettes document at NSW Health. That document in turn links to:

    • Are electronic cigarettes legal in NSW?
    • Are electronic cigarettes and liquids safe?
    • Can electronic cigarettes help me quit smoking?

The 2nd & 3rd of those documents includes very relevant looking superscript numbers implying a reference is below, but there are no references included! I guess they are aiming those documents at people who are impressed by an allusion to references, but who fail to read the entire document..

Could it all just be a hatchet job someone worked on over the Christmas break? Maybe our good friend Paul Bogan and his tambourine backup Simon Plainpax?

The link on that site with the 'particulate matter' paragraph just look ridiculous, manages to mention particulate matter 8 times in a short amount of time (just to drum in the fear trigger words).

I especially like this statement 'Research has shown that using electronic cigarettes produces particulate matter.' lol...my own 'home research' has shown that turning on the kettle produces particulate matter.

This is all straight out of Stan Glantz' book of utter bollox

My toaster is known for causing particle matter also... and the clothes dryer, the oven, my computers are stirring up these PM's and dammit! I live right next to a forest and all these particles are coming in. I work at a sugar mill and it's spewing out all this steam and vapour... the PM's are after me. Help!

Tell the health dept, they'll change the law.
That'll stop all those things trying to cover you in particle matter.
