ASH Wales Stats on Youth Ecig use Debunks Gateway theory April 2015

Although 90% of respondents were aware of e-cigarettes......Regular use by never smokers was negligible at 0.16%.

Of those that reported using both tobacco cigarettes and electronic cigarettes, 98% had first used tobacco cigarettes suggesting an absence of any gateway theory.

Lordy, I'm having trouble processing all the common sense in this report!

Whilst we cannot conclude that electronic cigarettes are safe in absolute terms, the majority
of the evidence currently available suggests that they are much safer than tobacco
cigarettes and are comparable in toxicity to conventional nicotine replacement products.
Before regulation of this nature proceeds, it needs to be clear that the harms to others
outweigh the benefits to those who are using them for harm reduction or cessation purposes, if there is a risk that the regulation in question could harm public health by making a potential
avenue for smoking cessation less attractive to current smokers.

What "harms to others ", catching a whiff of PG/VG vapour laced with a bit of nicotine? It's gotta be better than breathing 4000 chemicals into someone's direction.

JenJ you are so right about this.
Problem is Aussie "health guru's" don't think like normal people and are prone to ignore all evidence unless it suits their own agenda.

6% of 10 to 11 year old had used an ecig...........

28.7% of 13 to 14 year olds had used an ecig.........

41.5% of 15 to 16 year olds had used an ecig.........

It's not a good report. It shows widespread use of ecigs in under 18s.

So what! My kids started experimenting with smoking at about 12, well that is when I found out that they were doing so. I started at 10.

At 14 I gave my son an e-cig to stop him smoking cigarettes and it worked.

**** the idiot laws and those that ridiculously abide blindlessy by them.

The law is paramount to idiot sheep but at least my son does not inhale toxic cigarettes and has gone to a more harm reduction alternative.

He is now 19 and at least he was spared a bit of damage.

Who gives a shit about what we are allowed to do by our bloody Nannies and smart arse saviours.

The Law is an Ass. (quote by someone famous that wrote generally in iambic pentameter)
