In addition, it showed as many as two out of three people who used e-cigarettes continued to smoke tobacco products at the same time, showing the vaporisers do not help users quit cigarettes.
So by that statement, we can presume that at least 1 in 3 did not continue to smoke tobacco products. A 33.33(+)% success rate for quitting seems a pretty good rate to me (sure better than anything that can be claimed by Big Pharma for their therapies).

A survey carried out by Coyne Research for the Irish Cancer Society, showed about 5 per cent of smokers had begun using e-cigarettes before they switched to regular cigarettes.
By 'begun using' I guess they mean that they tried somebody elses PV?

I often wonder about the Cancer Council and its "war" on e-cigs ...
-Should it then not be rallying around the retailers who facilitate tobacco? surely THEY have a bigger responsibility as far as causing cancer goes?
-Should they not be demanding the Govt outlaw cigarettes , because in allowing them to be licensed , sold, and taxed ... surely that means our own elected officials are more to blame for cancer than e-cigs...
-Should they not visit EVERY smokers home individually and demand they stop immediately because they are personally responsible for their actions ?
-Should they not be breaking down the doors of Phillip Morris and BATA and Universal Corp ... pillaging the offices and dancing on the photocopying machines... burning down the Reichstaag?

Instead , they seek to legislate out of existence a product that ( as yet) has not been proven in ANY WAY SHAPE or FORM to exhibit any cause whatsoever to fall under its auspices other than the very tentative little spins , that THEY themselves place on it .... " Normalising" cigarettes for example ... I suggest they also sue Bic , because a pen in your mouth could also "normalise smoking "

It is a sign of madness in this world when legislation is brought to bear on something simply because "someone" doesn't like it , and creates a fantasy world of propaganda to enhance its chances .

Its kinda like the Lost Dogs Home yelling from the rooftops to kill all the cats , because cats kinda look like lions ... and everyone knows lions are bad for you if they sit on your lap at night !!!

( this is a Lion demonstrating it cant be trusted ... it has just robbed a tourist of its camera and is off to Cashies to pawn it to get some money for cigarettes) )

The worst thing is that they probably do some good work and have a blind spot because they have to tow the party line. Just proves the power of the pharma lobby and the influence they have over their fundees.

The crazy thing is, there is so much to be celebrated in this study.

Over 30% of current ecig users have quit smoking.
The majority of ecig users are older people.
The vast majority heard about ecigs through word of mouth (not BT marketing)
The majority are tank system users, not BT cigalikes.

And more stuff I forgot and can't be bothered going back to find.

All of that was left out of this article, yet all of those things suggest a massive potential for reducing smoking related cancers. Um....isn't that supposed to be Paul Grogan's job, reducing smoking related cancer?

"We're seeing encouraging signs... people are getting aware of the risk," he said.
Translate: People are starting to believe the misinformation we and our ANTZ buddies are being paid to spread.

"Instead of electric cigarettes being a way to get people off nicotine, they're actually worse," he said.
Seriously, people in positions like this making statements like this should ultimately be held criminally liable for the deaths of smokers who didn't switch because of this crap. It shouldn't be such a stretch either: they are "experts" in the field and are making public statements in their position as such. It is their responsibility to ensure they are actually informed by the facts.

Making false authoritative statements from a public position of expertise is at best gross incompetence; manslaughter, and at worst an intentional lie; murder.

Notice the sleight of hand 'being a way to get people off nicotine' moving goalposts from tobacco abstinence to nic abstinence. very fkn sneaky.

Especially since nicotine does not cause cancer. This goose should really stick to his job description and stop over reaching himself.

    I doubt it.

A bunch of swindling slimebags shoving truckloads of public donations and pharma bribes into their executive salaries and retirement funds no doubt.

A wonder what can be done to get some public pushback happening against these fraudsters.
