    Vaping Infographic

    Hi,

I have created an infographic about the recent Public Health England report to share a positive message based on credible research.

It has graphical answers to important questions such as:
    • What is the relative harm of various nicotine products?
    • Are eCigarettes a gateway into smoking?
    • Are eCigarettes an effective tool for cutting down or quitting altogether?
    • What are the main risks?
    • What impact is misinformation having?

I don't want to break any rules on the forum but I am happy to share it if anyone is interested.

I think it looks very good. It covers a lot of issues and is easy to read.

    Some suggestions:

    1) no capitals unless absolutely necessary. They're harder to read and absorb than lower case words. Note the capitals titles have a lot of spelling errors, because it's harder to recognise them in that format
    2) hyphenate e-cigarette
    3) I think the sources for each graph or claim need to be clearly displayed even on an infographic. Either below each graph or at the bottom as a bulk entry. A reader should be able to easily verify the information provided, and that includes not only "who" but "where"
    4) first graph I'd call "how safe are e-cigarettes compared to other nicotine products?" , remove the red bar and just circle the EC line to highlight it
    5) i think talking about "perceived risks" would be more useful than fire hazard risks, and put the gateway content there. Perceived risk also includes poison claims aka formaldy-lies. The big perceived risk is that people think they're just as bad as smoking

    Hope that helps

I'm amazed the average smoker in Australia only spends $2.6K a year. I smoked a packet a day and that's over $7K , not to mention lighters, breath mints etc.

I suspect that figure was translated from Euro or GBP. Given a different tax regime on cigarettes in the UK and Australia, combined with the fluctuating exchange rates, I think it would be better (if my suspicion is correct) to express that in the original currency.
