Hopefully not the start of a new trend...

Sir Humphrey: "Yes, but cigarette taxes pay for a third of the cost of the National Health Service. We are saving many more lives than we otherwise could because of those smokers who voluntary lay down their lives for their friends. Smokers are national benefactors."

Tax on Batteries. What if you have a 16340 or 18650 flashlight? Do you still pay the tax. Idiots.

Really? WTF idiots. Everything is for money. Get taxed for trying to save your life its bullshit. I already pay tax for earning a income, eating and living(gst). Now australia is talking about putting stupid taxes on anything that has sugar in it. And not to mention alcohol. If this trend taxing vapers starts im going to be pissed off. A nic replacement product like gum prob cost 1 buck a packet yet they charge 20. Shows how much goverments care about there people. I would like to see them live on my wage and raise a family, and do the hours a week and the hard labour I have too do to earn a shit wage.

Calm down kids. I can't seem to find the link at the moment, but there is good news.

The law did get passed, meaning e-cigs can no longer be sold to minors (which is a good thing IMHO), but the bit about taxation was removed. E-cigs in Hawaii will be taxed like any other product with normal sales tax and that's it.

I'd count that as a win

If they were serious about the smoking issue, it wouldnt be taxed at all.

Everything is America has sales tax, even current NRT so it really is a win. The good bit for online and mail order retailers is if somebody out of state buys from you, then they don't pay it.
