    NRT prices

    Question:
Has anyone out there been monitoring the price rises in the cost of NRT's?

Have they been following the tax rises on cigarettes?

Or something between that and inflation?

What inflation would that be? It's almost non-existant.

They're doing what all industries do — charging what they think the market will bear. Philanthropic they are not, and never have been.

i thought it was spensive when smoking, but realistically, patches are under $50 for a month, less on prescription

    much cheaper than vaping

No, I think you'll drop $40 on a packet of most things. It used to be cheaper on prescription, except you're putting the doctors kids through university (OK some of you probably still have doctors that bulk bill?). I used to find the way to do it was wait until coles or woolies had a special on (Yay! discount nicotine) where you could get up to half off. Allowing for inflation, I think it's not that different.

Best value for me seemed to be nicabate lozenges, and they didn't taste like absolute rubbish. Three box pack for $40 regular price. Way back when, a box of gum was nearly $20. I remember doing the prices and thinking it was actually more expensive than smoking (rollies).

Patches are way more expensive, and always have been I think. I always found them the least effective.

I still buy the fruit flavoured Nicotinelle gum to chew at stressful times when I can't vape (like if it's going off at work). It's about $35 for a box of 96 pieces.

Way back when, it used to cost more for patches than it did for rollies ... and you had to put up with the extreme irritation of the adhesives (to which I'm allergic too)

Not for myself and a lot of people it isn't. I spend well under $50 a month on vaping.

Even if I amortise the cost of gear I have bought over the last 4 and a bit years it would still be under $50 I reckon.

Me too, and micropore tape as well. It makes my skin blister.

It may be for some, but it definitely wasn't in my case. Phenergan 25mg (3x tablets) helped with the irritation though, but it would be far better if the companies actually spent some of the billion dollar profits to improve the situation rather than rely on more drugs ...
