This is HUGE - Hunter Legislation to replace the FDA deeming regs

Maybe some good news for the US if they can pull it off.

Yep, and Trump has recently fired the Surgeon General, who last year announced that e-cigarettes were a national health threat.

Hopefully since the Oz government likes to play "follow the leader" with the USA they'll get the hint

You'd think they would have got that already from the UK and NZ. Unfortunately common sense is in short supply at the moment.

Defiently agree with that point, hopefully with NZ,UK and finally the USA accepting vapour products the government will realise the benefits and the final decision with the TGA might be bypassed. Defiently a long way off but still alot closer then before imo

Yep. If this happens in the US, along with UK and NZ rules, we'll be the odd one out amongst all our buddies. Fingers crossed we fall into line!

Its an interesting turn for sure .. Having a quick read thru the Bill it appears to be a fairly common sense bit of legislation that still gives the FDA complete control over the standards for producing Vapour devices and introduces AEMSA as the leading body to control e-liquid standards ... there is not a lengthy or complicated compliance structure like the proposed Deeming Regs but rather an introduction to allow the FDA to impose minimum standards for quality and safety of items produced and issue non-compliance orders to companies to rectify and redress any claims within a 90 day period ...

This is far too much common sense and basically accepts the UK's Royal College of Physicians report as the benchmark for the smoking vs Vaping debate

Make no bones about it , this still puts vaping directly under the auspices of the FDA but for the first time it also acknowledges that vaping is a tobacco harm reduction methodology as opposed to another nasty tobacco plot !

The original Bill is good news for U.S. vapers I think ... however there is also the lengthy and involved amendment process that will take place before it is indeed passed ... and as has been evidenced many times in U.S. history , its those "Amendments" that can really screw up a great idea !

Lets hope it wont happen here ?

Bill as it stands for submission presently .... https://www.regulatorwatch.com/wp-co...1-2017-vr..pdf

Not in it's old form, no: David and Phillip have retired, at least from vapourspace.
