Never mind LStarrr, 1ynne always tells me what to do too! I had a gawk at it as well. I find it strange that a representative hasn't appeared here on AVF.

As far as I can tell, they haven't engaged with any forums - just doing the farce book thing but once again not asking for input from vapers just announcing what they are doing. But good on them I guess.

The Taxpayers alliance and Mychoice Australia are quiet on forums and avoid them for good reason - they are right wing libertarian activists and even though not officially affiliated with them are a kind of kind of an unofficial arm of groups like the Institute of Public Affairs and Center for Independent studies

(Although you will find a couple of links to libertarian political style groups on their website )

Think of it this way - if the IPA and CIS are the far right libertarian think tanks to influence policy at the top - then the ATA and Mychoice are the groups that try and influence the regular people to the thinktanks ways of thinking in order to make ideas popular

This is how the TPA play out in the UK
    https://www.theguardian.com/politics...pressure-group

This is the kind of thing that the IPA believe in and that the tpa also believe in
@geeksrulz compares IPA 100 point list and Labor policies and achievements

    and since 2013 to now
you find these kinds of groups are pro corporate and climate change deniers, pro mining etc etc - not much has changed

They pick vaping and smoking and other similar causes not because it is an attack on freedoms etc - but bc you will find a pile of corporate funding behind it all wanting to control the market- including but not limited to pharma, BT , mining and others

Here is a general background article on the Australian Taxpayers Alliance by Desmog
    https://www.desmogblog.com/australia...ayers-alliance

You will also notice that articles and information are and is missing from their website - like Tony Abbotts address to them and the section under regulation in what they believe - there is also good reason for this -

Simply because what they really are fighting for as a whole picture is off putting to people who might want to join for only one cause like freedom to vape or smoke (Think American style system)

Dont imagine for a second that what the ATA and My choice is fighting for is about freedom to vape or supporting small business- but rather as pointed out in many articles it started out as a 'business plan " which would stand for big business and screw many more over -

Ironic too that for groups who supposedly call for transparency, equity through freedom etc that in their actions they do the exact opposite and are in fact very oppressive and to a large degree quite secretive - with a disdain for those not in their income brackets or value boxes as well as pretty protectionist when it comes to their usually very large financial interests- (Keep in mind vaping is a world wide multi billion dollar market- not unlike the NRT/ anti smoking pill markets or the anti smoking industry)

My only surprise here is that Medhelson has become an official spokesperson for these groups - perhaps though I shouldnt be- especially as he has been pretty outspoken in his support for nicopharm over time and has received pharma funding for many of his various roles as a "Smoking Cessation Specialist" what ever the f*ck that is ....

Support them or not up to you - but suggest that you research them carefully and consider what exactly it is you are supporting by getting behind them even on a single issue

Meh but at least now you know if you didnt before ...

Shut up and be grateful that people are working behind the scenes with medical groups in order to medicalize vaping so that you cant DIY
and dont ask any freaking questions about the low levels asked for by other groups - its for YOUR own good and future vapers don't deserve the opportunities you had cause lets face it - They have smaller brains than you

Lol fact, fiction, informed and uninformed opinion- am too old to see the difference especially when people like colin not only have and allow their name to be splashed over the front page of an Australian Taxpayers Alliance/ Mychoice campaign but has also given talks to them, has had his videos uploaded by them - as well as addressed the sydney institute (IPA) , has with david leyonhjelm addressed the freidman 17 freedom conference (a pretty big deal) and more

Perhaps notions of informed and uniformed opinion are like beauty-

In the eye of the beholder ....

I like cake oh and kittens - so here is a kitten and cake (I bet both taste delicious!)

I find it very unsettling and more than a little disturbing that the most outspoken and in support of Vaping Pollies are the ones I despise and disrespect the most.
Cory Bernardi, David Leyonhjelm, James Patterson are a few of them.
I have often been told to think of Vaping as a single issue in politics - perhaps I have limited brain capacity for I find myself unable to disregard the other issues they stand for & find abhorrent and as such - cant and wont support them.
I know little of the Tax party so more research is required to understand why they have jumped on the bandwagon with little engagement with us, the Vapers. currently they dont have my support.
I agree its disappointing that Colin has aligned himself with them as I feel he genuinely believes in Vaping for those that cant quit smoking via standard quit methods. cant help wondering if he is receiving some bad advise from "advisors"

So far Fiona Patten is the only Politician with my respect in regards to Vaping - she is genuine and someone that will look you straight in the eye when speaking with you & I believe she has the best of intentions regarding us as Vapers. She is a no BS kinda gal and I love that about her.

    I dont know ally

I do know we do need libertarians as a kind of policing of fairness and freedoms of all sides and to represent those who might not be heard otherwise- (assuming of course they can break some of the shackles of their own ideologies which do more harm than good to many of the most vulnerable bc they believe everything to happen in life to be choice based and that we all playing on a level playing field which we are not )

dont know yet if pattern and her reason/ sexparty can do that - time will tell with who they choose to align with and what kind of medicare and welfare policies they end up developing (although I do suspect that they will soon overtake the greens and others in popularity esp now they have changed their name- even if the name reason grates against a few old school educated who automatically associate this with the 17th century)

TBH I am completely torn by their wanting to completely decriminalize prostitution - and I say that as a staunch marxist feminist- Ally I dont know-

As to the rest I agree with you with the more powerful libertarians as being bad for vaping bc of the wolves in sheeps clothing thing - but thats a different kind of libertariianism - some might say not libertarianism at all because its about corporate protectionism and end game capitalism and other stuff

But to their credit the wolves have brought vaping to the political table- leaving the question what now? Leave it in corporate or vendor hands? Beg and pander to ANTZ? Suck up to the wolves?

Kill DIY to save a low level? (not unlike prohibition measures that are killing smokers to save the next gen really)

theres more but I am prone to ranting and writing essays and offending people

So will leave it to you to read and research and make up your own mind - read both sides of every argument and act in according to your own conscious- It may not always be easy doing things that way - but no matter if people agree or disagree with you - your voice and thoughts matter too -

Keep educating yourself and Trust yourself

Thats the best any of us can do

Has he aligned himself with consent I wonder, or are they using his name? I have done no research into it admittedly.
