Yes good news for the English residents who already enjoy legal vaping, I share your doubt about our luck with it though. It'll take a miracle for us to be decriminalised but any good news helps cheer us up.

I'm particularly interested as it's mentioned in relation to mental health inpatient units, something I believe it would work well for also. The over-representation of those with mental ill health among the smoking demographic & the total smoking ban combine to make time in hospital even more hellish than it needs to be for some people, & this report could perhaps help a little bit.

It's pretty groundbreaking, to have such strong support from such a well-respected organisation, & published in the Lancet. . . Although I doubt it'll get through to the powers that be, somehow.

(Apologies in advance if this is old news, BTW - I just saw it, & got excited so thought I'd share.)

I'd add it to my profile, but Gmail keeps eating my password reset emails, so I can't login via PC, however I'm logged in via the phone app... so this will have to suffice for now!**

Perhaps we can learn something from Old Blighty before we ditch them & form a republic? At least, I hope so. . .

The UK public health system at least bears some resemblance to ours, unlike the US one, so that makes it more comparable in terms of how it's received, etc.

But yeah, I'd settle for decriminalisation of vaping over here for now, too.

Oh Lusttarr you prolly have a million pms by now but so you know this is a dead forum it has no moderators - they have moved over here Home | vaping in australia

But before you get too excited about things - this PHE move is only really talking about controlling ecigs by medicalising it - as it says in the article

"The call comes from Public Health England, as part of an evidence update on the safety of tobacco alternatives which it says should be used more widely as quitting aids.
Meanwhile, Government officials should help manufacturers licence e-cigarettes as medical quitting aids.
Such a move would allow GPs to prescribe the devices to their patients who are trying to stop smoking."

In other words possible Bye bye to DIY, Possible Bye Bye to variety of mods and tanks, and wide variety of eliquids... you may have to end up at the doctor each time you want a script to be allowed to vape what corporations have licensed through very expensive and exclusive avenues (so bye bye that little vape shop you might like) -

You will probably end up monitored for medical purposes and given heaps of crap to help you stop vaping and smoking through other medical means

Doctors like other medications could also deny you the right to vape at higher levels- if they feel that its in your best interest - They could also deny you a script for your own best interest- and you will pay more for the privilege- not just for the privilege to eliquid, but you will now have to pay for the doctors visit in time and money as well as the extra costs that we all tend to pay when buying stuff at a chemist (The chemists guild also has alot of power)

You could even possibly be limited by the amount of eliquid for your script so that rather than bulk buy for 3 months now as we have it now - they could limit you to 120m for three months - this is not an impossibility bc eliquid and vaping is lucrative to the tune of billions of dollars of which medical industry is currently missing out on

And places that rely or request funding like Quit, cancer council etc in Australia will gain even more power and funding

Politically its about medical control, increased funding to medical and more

Suggest you stock up in case this happens here in Australia which it is likely to - especially since the idea seems to have some citizen/ cancer council advocacy support here in Australia

Shut up and be grateful that people are working behind the scenes with medical groups in order to medicalize vaping so that you cant DIY
and dont ask any freaking questions about the low levels asked for by other groups - its for YOUR own good and future vapers don't deserve the opportunities you had cause lets face it - They have smaller brains than you

I'd take reb's advice and stock up LustStarrr, keep ya nic in the freezer for longevity and don't tell anyone anything, can't trust our pollies or anyone in authority to look after us so we must take care of ourselves.

This just goes to show how smart chapman is.
He deliberately uses the politicians and the public ignorance about totally different products to lump everything in together to "prove" his case and make it stronger.
