The second link isn't too bad but that first one is just propaganda to sell V2 ecigs.

A reasonably well balanced article but still put the boot in with this in the discussion

"Additional public health concerns include: (i) never-tobacco users may initiate nicotine use with e-cigs, (ii) e-cigs may be used mainly in places where smoking is banned and so help smokers continue their nicotine addiction by becoming a dual user, (iii) e-cigs may pose unknown health problems, such as via long-term inhalation of propylene glycol or inadvertent poisoning of a child consuming flavoured e-cig liquid (iv) e-cigs are unproven as smoking cessation aids and may be used in place of medicines that have been proven to be safe and effective for smoking cessation"

Some of those concerns are dubious or bordering on the ridiculous.

I think if we are totally unbiased, points 1-3 are valid. Point 4 is only partially true ("e-cigs are unproven as smoking cessation aids and may be used in place of") while this is untrue ("medicines that have been proven to be safe and effective for smoking cessation")

Points 1-3 are valid concerns except for two things:

    1. They are exactly the same concerns the health industry had in the 80's over the introduction of patches. How'd that turn out?
    2. E-Cig liquid is no more dangerous than countless other household products. It's stupid parents that are the real problem.

The first point also shows their true colors. Given what we know about nicotine, does it REALLY matter if a never-smoker starts using nicotine products, as long as they don't start smoking?

I can't believe they keep claiming "may be used in place of medicines that have been proven to be safe and effective for smoking cessation". Safe like Champix or effective like NRT?

I'm certain that line was added in by the pharmaceutical companies.
