The links on their website to the public feedback section are broken, the above is the URL after it has been corrected.

Edit: If the form doesn't work for any reason, alternate address is enquiries@health.gov.au

I haven't sent them anything yet... I'm all out of complaining juice. Will give them an email soon.

OK, I've contacted Cairns.com.au about the errors in their news article.
Contacted Channel 9 to let them know about the errors in their story, and linked them to the Deconstruction on SMOKESCREEN.
Finally, read the page of e-cigs on the Mayo Clinic site (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/ele...rettes/AN02025) and it's full of errors too

Why is it so hard to understand that UNKNOWN does not equal DANGEROUS. They question "Are e-cigs safer than traditional cigs" and the unequivocal answer to that is YES. Just because we don't know the long term effects, doesn't mean we don't know they are safer!

OK, end rant. Sent a very polite, calm email to them pointing out mistakes, and suggesting they look into more recent studies and update their page accordingly.

Why do I have a horrible feeling, if this keeps up, I may end up as a media spokesperson...seriously, I'm too funny looking for that We need a hottie for this role

(Although, does slightly overweight white guy with a beard and glasses seem credible to you? Lolz)

EDIT: Also need to learn to type slower and think faster. When I go all "stream-of-consciousness" typing I swear an outsider would think English is my second language...

MediaWatch. And yes, they are next

I just don't want to take that step until Queensland Health gets back to me with what law are being used to justify the seizures...

Changed my mind. I figured the story had enough holes in it even before we get any more information from QH, so MediaWatch has been contacted.

I've also just sent the following letter to the TGA. I have a feeling this has been done before, but I figured more emails on the same such to them can't hurt.

    ---

    Good afternoon,

I would like to clarify the current status of the importation of the liquid used with electronic cigarettes.

The nicotine contained in these liquids is usually found in concentrations between 00.4% and 04.8%. The Poisons Standard 2010 classes nicotine as a Schedule 7 toxin, and contentration seems to be irrelvant to this fact. Fortunately (according to Customs) there are no Federal laws resticting the personal importation of an S7 toxin as long as it is not listed as a Regulated Schedule 7 - which nicotine is not.

From reading through the "Access to unapproved therapeutic goods - personal importation" document, it would seem that such nicotine juice does not violate any of the requirements of this scheme.

If this is not the case, could you please point me towards the relevant policies or legislation that I have missed.

    Thank you for your time,

Time for some brute force educational. I've just gone through the listings of all the pollies in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Unfortunately not all of them list an email address and simply link to a Contact form. Probably to prevent what I'm about to do next...

So I've compiled a "master list" of all these email addresss. I'm not going to post the list itself in forum as there is too much chance of abuse (not by us, remember this forum does get indexed by Google) but if you want to do a mass email out, PM me and I'll copy you in on the list.

    Cheers

My local MP directed me towards this website regarding the Plain Packaging Tobacco Legislation:
    http://www.yourhealth.gov.au/interne...inpack-tobacco

I have sent the following email to the listed contact address:
    ------
    Good morning,

The Plain Packaging Legislation that is currently being promoted by the Gillard Government is based on theoretical studies. Since it has yet to be tried anywhere in the world, there is no solid evidence that it will succeed in reducing smoking rates.

The use of electronic cigarettes is showing anecdotal evidence across the world that it works as an alternative method to quit smoking for long term smokers that have failed with traditional methods. Unfortunately due to being a very recent invention, there is no solid evidence yet to back up these claims.

The first is being pushed hard by our government, while the second doesn't even seem to currently be on the table.

The first will cost the Australian taxpayer a fortune in legal costs when the tobacco industry inevitably fights back, while the second won't cost the Australian tax payer a dollar.

So my question is simple: Why the double standard?

    Regards,
    S--- N----

I'd feel really sorry for any single individual who would not be willing to stand right beside you in your (our) conquest.
