Oi. Vamo is not a poorly made mod. None of these things, cheap or expensive, painfully filtered with angel's tears through a sterling silver sieve, or alternatively put together on work experience Friday arvo at the sheltered workshop enjoy being dropped. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes it's all over, rover.. it has nothing to do with how well something is made. Being dropped from a height onto anything other than a feather bed may result in a 'failure to proceed' incident.

I do agree there Mrs G, the Vamo is a damn good device, like most things a drop can be ok or it can kill. Thats the joys of VV devices and why sometimes a Mech MOD is good for a bit of rough and tumble (maybe not a Paps/GG/nemmie etc).
I have dropped one of my ProTank's on to tile floor no issues, dropped a different PT onto carpet and cracked the glass...

Just saw your post. Would have helped out, but you look like you got in under control. I think.

That's not necessarily the case. This is a device which is frequently recommended to newbies. It's available at a reasonable price locally and is an "entry level" to the "v's". More of these around = more likely they will have "unfortunate unexpected removals from hand or bench with accelleration involved"

so i got hold of the dead vamo
    ripped its head off
twas a victim of poor solder work at point of manufacture
that lead to an early demise in its functioning with its first deadly knock to the floor
grabbing a 30w solder iron of doom i made damn sure it would take a few more hits before dying again
    tha vamo lives on

there really was bugger all of a solder point there
    so
    just one of those things

now matty mat can buy a bat or 2 plus a charger from this fine vendor and
pass this vamo onto some other deserving soul
