I have been smoking for just under 23 years and started when I was 19. Yes I was a late starter on smoking and this was in the early 90's. Those were the good days - smoking in shopping malls, smoking on train stations, basically no restrictions on smoking (except for advertising though). Anyway, I started smoking because I had a lot of friends who smoked. Hanging around them just made me want to try what smoking was all about.
So I started with one, then two, then three and you know the story from there. I remember I once finished half a pack of Marlboro red in the early days and I puked up on the drive back from a party in Bondi (I was the driver) - little did I know I had to much nicotine in me. No one ever talked about overdose back then (let alone binge drinking). It was cool to do all that stuff especially during the grunge music era - everything was so bleak.
During the following years I had tried to stop smoking. Everything from NRT to champix to even vaping - Do you guys remember the suppository shaped NRT powder inhaler from Nicabate (or one of those manufacturers?) and how NRT was via prescription only? I also tried Champix. This was the worst method I tried, that totally screwed with my head. So I practically just continued smoking.
The longest I stayed of smokes as 8 months, but once a stressful situation came along - off to the shops I went for a smoke.
Anyway, the first I heard about vaping was back in 2007 (frak 10 years goes fast) anyway I don't even think the term existed back then. I read an article in Ralph Mag about electronic cigs. So I went online and ordered Crown7 branded cigalikes based on the article. When they arrived they were the worst experience I had.
Gladly this year I was advised by a friend to try vaping again. Boy was a surprised to see how much has change. Now i'm hooked.
