    Mesh wick

I was due for a rewrap on my did and aga so last week i tried something new to me

Put 2 strands of silica wick inside a mesh wick it amassed me how well its running ,and has not built up much crud on the kanthal at all and that was over a week ago,i usually give them a rinse under the hot tap after a week, no need with this setup

i pre oxidized the mesh just a quick go over then used half the amount of mesh about 30mm wide put 2 strands of silica in it then rolled chucked it in the aga and trimmed the top ,left a bit at the bottom to insulate the bottom to the tank wrapped the coil to .9 ohms fired it up b it of a poke here and there done

So happy with it,i done the DID as well same result
It work extremely well the best wicking ive ever had and the coil has very little build up,stopped the juice bubbling out the centre of the wick, didnt mute the flavor as silica sometimes does.

Anybody tried this before and thoughts on this??

I think you gave it away far too cheaply... lol

I like the sound of the idea. I have used a bit of silica in the top before. My idea was more to stop leakage when it was on it's side, but I thought even that seemed to help keep the top of the wick wetter. Might roll one up!

oddly enough i just tried it before reading your post. wick hole 3mm on my ac9, 2mm sillica wick + half the mesh (same as you) works pretty fine, seems to be wicking even with the fill hole plugged.

i always keep the fill holes plugged mines still wicking like a champ
fires up quicker to, i guess it not as much of a heat sink with less mesh
