    Home Made VV Board

Looking at doing my own mod for work. As I work outdoors and in all types of weather the need for a water proof model is sorta a necessity. Would this board do the job?

That board is only a 2A Feral , so might struggle a little providing current to an atty if you use the normally available atomisers , if you wind your own , you could tailor atties to work on it ... you can of course up the volts in but stacking batteries to give you higher watts at lower amps , but you would be better looking for a board with a bit higher specs ... That board is no more waterproof than any other board in a mod .
As that board is a STEP DOWN module , it requires volts on the INPUT side to be higher than volts out .
If you are using a single battery , you are after a Buck Boost board ... to give you higher volts than the input voltage and thus higher watts at the lower amp rate .

i have a big soft spot for lm2596's and have used them in many commercial designs.
not ideal for pv's really but useable.

    cons:
you would need to stack batterys
    no low battery cutoff
output voltage must be <1.4v under input
2.5A is starting to push it hard
efficiency likely only 70% or less
    not that small

the output voltage thing means when your cels are down to 3.2 .. assuming perfect battery connectors, max output will be 5v.

thanks guys, the board doesn't have to be waterproof as the end product will be. just cant justify buying a mod to destroy it just for the board. so, looking for a cheaper alternative

bugger, the other one that look promising wont do either

you can get vamo, zmax boards quite cheaply if you hunt for them.
    some have no display though.

a board for $20 or a full mod for $30. if I go to, would buy the full mod, would get the terminals and all then. once I get what's needed, should only take a few hours
