    [EOI] Home grown Titanium mod

I've been doing some research into what would be required.

Special taps and dies (the cheap ones) I'm M20 x 1.0 come in at about $600
Materials to build 6 or so is about $200

    Switch: TBA
510 connection: harvest the heads from dead eGo batteries

    Need to source the delrin

So the best result with no screw ups would be around $170 each.

I have access to a lathe able to do the job.

    Tech issues to be resolved:
    Switch design.

Ti is a really crap conductor and electro plating is beyond the means of a back yard workshop.

interesting little project there mate ive been pondering over trying to make some mods myself when i get some time. have you looked at DIY Parts plenty of parts there to help you along instead of salvaging from dead eGos onto a $170 dollar mod. hmm i just had a good look through stuff in that link and maybe the eGo could be better

if you put a boomerang on it the stoner with the gimp leg down the souvenir shop in Byron would get $700 for one , then he would tell you the eftpos aint working and he cant do a manual tax invoice and it will have to be cash.

white plastic kitchen cutting boards lathed down ok to replace delrin on my sigeli, you can also get nylon threaded rod from blackwoods that should do the trick as well

I can get you delrin by the mile. Also custom lathed to fit if you so desire.

Oh God Ti....makes me shudder, as a knife maker, i get requests to make handles and folding knives scales out of Ti, it kills my grinding belts and my special drill bits run and hide when i bring Ti to drill press...

Best of luck with the build!

Make the 510 connection yourself would be my suggestion.. One of the best aspects of a mechanical mod is the robust 510 connection machined into the top of the mod.

Got to agree with this. If you are going to high-end materials why would you stick an old ego connector on it? Finish her off with a nice top cap and switch.
