    iPow 2 micro USB passthrough

    Hi everyone,

I own two Kanger iPow 2 1600mah batteries, the micro USB charging port on each device has failed.

Can anyone advise if a passthrough is possible on these?? What I mean specifically is can I replace the micro USB charging port or relocate it to the bottom of the battery??

    Thanks : )

I tend to think that putting metal device that is directly connected into the mains into you mouth and pressing the button is a bad idea.

    But that's just me.

Sorry maybe I have used incorrect vape vernacular, I don't want to mod the battery so I can use it while it charges.

The original micro USB charging port on the device no longer works. Broken charging ports seem to be a common issue amongst Kanger iPow 2 batteries and I think it is due to the battery connector being on the side of the battery rather than at the bottom. Obviously the weight bearing is too much for the pins in the port and they are breaking/bending/disconnecting.

Given that the batteries are still pretty new, I would prefer to mod the device rather than throw it away. Wondered if it was possible to reposition the micro USB port to the bottom of the battery so I can continue to charge and use it. Thought this was called a passthrough...

I dunno... the usb port itself is probably replaceable if you have good eyes and a steady hand to resolder or replace it. I don't know (doubt) the case would have anywhere to mount if you wanted to put a new one in the bottom. That doesn't mean it can't be done, just that it might not be worth it in a time vs value equation.

Toss them, buy a 30w istick, problem solved.
Upgrade to a Delta II, or a Silo Tank.
Get a decent kit now you have to.

Was thinking this also. Odd the port on both batteries broke. Try charging from a different source/lead if you can.

When something breaks, or no longer works as it should.
I look on it as a sign to replace stuff.
We have an amazing array of stuff to choose from at very good prices.
You'll only upgrade in a few weeks anyway.
Bite the bullet and buy something new, what works.

This. Can completely understand the desire to fix something, but nothing is a better excuse for new gear. My Sigelei 50W finally died today...

Yes of course. Have tried many different cables (the ones that came with the battery x 2, Blackberry phone cables x 4, Samsung phone cable x 1, other purchased micro USB cables x 2). All the usb cords charge my phones and my other vapes so am pretty much definite it's the device ports.

Plus googling iPow 2 micro USB port returns many forum posts where iPow 2 owners are suffering the same problem as myself.
