    Electroplating anyone?

HI guys... I hope I'm in the right forum here.

I have a wonderful copper mod, this guys is the beez neez for me... but it looks like sh!t.

What I was thinking of doing was electroplating it in silver or ss. Anyone have any experience doing this? I did it once in science class decades ago, but the results weren't so important back then.

Advice? guidance? experience would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Triple plate it ... google triple chrome plating if you must. Basically, it's copper then nickel then chrome plating, with buffing in between each and produces the best, and longest lasting coating. Seeing you are starting with a copper atty, you just need to buff that before doing the next two plates.

Bugzme (a member) has a plating setup.

Buy the time you get yourself set up to do this properly ie so that it looks good and will last it would be cheaper to get a plater to do it for you. I could be wrong but I dont think you can actually plate with stainless steel. Silver is doable so is gold and nickel and as GT said chrome done properly. You can also get a range of Zincs and black chrome.
Other options are ceramic coatings and thermal sprayed coatings.

Of course, get a plater to do it! A DIY kit starts at close to $1400 ...

I sort of still have ( my old business has ) a rectifier and all of the gear for brush plating and the rectifier would run a small tank without any problems but I wouldn't bother setting it up for a one off job. I would get someone to do it for me. Thermal spraying well that's different I do that every day.
