From Scratch - The "Mystery" Mod

    Hello Aussie Vapers,

I am a product design student in my 4th year and am developing a temperature controlled electronic nicotine delivery device (E.N.D.D).
This thread will document my process thus far and progress going ahead with prototyping and manufacturing.
Input from the community is greatly desired as involving users in the design process is integral to producing successful products.

The design criteria for the product were arrived at through involving n=50 participants in a survey regarding vaping behaviour and products.

    Criteria:
    Single removable 18650
Safe, Efficient, Powerful (use Yihi sx350j temperature control chip)
Enclosure small as possible (82mmx30mmx45) max
Robust (3d printed high quality or cnc machined aluminium)

    Current v3 prototype render.

    Cad Model v3

As you open the battery door, it ejects the battery for you. The door is held in place with neodymium magnets.

    Housing:
The enclosure is 3D printed atm. This allows for rapid prototyping and many design iterations. v2 shows a 3 part contruction however v3 will be a 2 part enclosure as shown in the cad model v3 image.

    Prototype shown with Magma RDA

Prototype with wooden veneer door and cf vinyl wrap

Please post your suggestions and criticism. This concept will evolve and be a working model as soon as the sx350j chip arrives.

single 18650 Keeps size down and is easily swappable, keep one in the glove box, one in the bag etc. My solution to greater battery life it to make changing the battery, easy and feel good!

Being new myself as far as I can see you have all the usual problems sorted.

Like where the USB port is - tick
    Door closer strong - tick
Size looks small - tick for those who want small

Is it 510 threaded, floating pin?

I like how it looks, now comes the hard part.
Making it affordable, and still make a profit.

    uses self adjusting 510 pin from 510 Connector - Self-adjusting Center Pin - 14mm, 22mm, 28.5mm, Smooth Top 22mm

I'ts spring loaded but the spring doesn't take electrical load!

I can get the body machined from aluminium for $30 a piece. 3d printed enclosures are viable though and allow for easy customisation for the buyer.

It works on pass-through and while plugged in can be used at higher wattage (120watts)

What do you think about the battery ejecting door mechanism? check the gif. link
