Modding a dripper to bottom fed

Now I have my first squonker I thought I would do my first bottom fed mod to one of my dripper stash.

I picked a small one that would suit the Reo mini and pulled it apart. the center pin was very tight but i got there eventually.

I decided to machine a tapper in the base to give better drainage and this was achieved with some effort considering the size and the lathe that I used has a 500mm chuck. I held the base by screwing the 510 connection into an old mech clone topcap which was in turn screwed into a tube. The tube was held in a small 3 jaw chuck which was held by the big 4 jaw chuck.

The pin was drilled (1.5mm) in the lathe with the same setup other than the pin being held by an old die grinder collet chuck. Again it was tricky on a big lathe but I managed to drill it without any mishaps.

I the held the pin in the same collect chuck and clamped it to a pedestal drill to drill the cross holes. Again this was achieved without to much trouble.

This is when my day turned to crap.....................As I removed the clamp I dropped the collet chuck with the pin still in it onto the floor and of course it landed on the pin and broke it. So now I have to start all over again from scratch to make or modify a new pin.

I dont think I like squonking and I haven't even used the Reo yet..........................

I was hoping it ended better for you. Keep practising though as it's worth it.

I used a dremel, done in 5 mins.

Here is the atty that I posted in the hand check thread.

It started life as a IGO rda of some sort with a single air hole. (came out of a bag of rda bits)
It was stripped down and one neg post was discarded and the other neg and pos posts where shortened. I machined off the lip and the first O ring groove and then machined a tapper in the base. I drilled the center pin for juice feed below the existing insulator and then reduced the height of the insulator.
I machined 4mm off the bottom of the top cap and also machined some steps into the top.

I built a 1 ohm coil as per SV's instructions and I am very happy with the results as far a vapor production and flavor. Even though the air hole is now a lot closer to the base the tapered base removes all excess juice after each squonk so I have had now issues with leaking.
