    First coil build

So I built my first coil SS 316L 26AWG.. but not sure if I have overdone the wraps.

    I was targeting a 1ohm build

Now it has dropped to around 0.84.

Any tips would be appreciated.. thanks

Oh and I just used a jewellers screwdriver which was around 2ml, I think

you'd be better off building 2 coils with 1/2 the wraps mate, the ramp up time on that must be huge.

Don't let that stop you vaping it though, wick it up and get stuck in there.

    Good first effort

Thanks Northerner, so pretty much no chance of making a single coil @ 1 Ohm with 26awg.

Maybe with 20 wraps at 2mm... lol. Or 13 wraps at 3mm.

Dual coils is going to give you loads more vapour though.

I prefer using 30 or 32 wire, easier to get my 1 -1.2 ohm coils I like.

    Ok... and thank you again.

Slightly annoying though, as I explained what I was looking to do, and was recommended 26AWG. Normally I would have googled the crap out of it to find the answer or have a better understanding, but was rushed for time yesterday afternoon, so took the advice at face value.

Dual coils at half the wraps would net him a quarter of the resistance he has now. Two coils aren't added to each other but divided by two... So two 10 wrap coils would be in the ball park of 0.28 ohm

As north said, 7-8 wraps in 30 AWG it 5-6 wraps in 32 AWG a will get you a single could in the vacinity of what you're looking for. Both wrapped around 2mm...

Yeah , I think North was referring to ramp time vape experience, so telling me I am better off running lower ohms and quicker ramp time, rather then faffing about with 100 wraps of the wrong gauge and slow ramp time.

Will get some 32 tomorrow, as I do want 1ohm builds

That looks like 13 or 14 wraps?
Try doing The same wraps on a 3mm drill bit if you have one.
Don't stress about the advice that was given. Although it's not really what you wanted, I'm sure later down the track you will use the 26g and sometimes it's all just trial and error

I only wish my struggle making some coils was going as good as yours. This is hard yakka!

Attempt three & I have a coil that fires like what I was expecting. Definitely an art one needs to practice & be patient.

I started with 30 gauge Kanthal & a 3mm rod. Going to a 2mm rod made all the difference. Now the art of wicking, thankfully wicks are more forgiving.

Thanks for the all tips, advice and encouragement.

Pulled out the coil ('tis only wire after all), and put a new one in at about 8.5 wraps on a 3ml bit and it is reading .66ohm. Produces a nice vape and flavour running at 21w @175c in TCR mode on the evic mini, smooth not harsh, and have the avocado on the tightest draw. I could probably take to 24-25w but i think it will heat up too much.
