    Competition-Build a Mod

Inspired by Studiovape's heartfelt mourning like a big pansy [ ]

I was just thinking about what Steve said stateing that this competition excluded newbies or less experienced vapers, still not sure that's should be an issue, but when I was a newbie and starting out I was told by just about everyone that genesis tanks were the tops and as a result spent hundreds of hours late into the night struggling to achieve the best mesh build I could, and even when you got it going great a little bump from knocking over your mod sent you right back to the preverbial drawing board. It seemed never ending and fairly unrewarding for my efforts.
Today with a bottom feeder and cotton balls, once you get the coil wound and clear of any hotspots it's plain sailing for weeks at a time.

And to be honest what is there going on on Avf to challenge a slightly more experienced vaper, aside from helping and advising new vapers.
The modding section is tumbleweed city these days whereas it use to be a hive of discovery, experimentation and ingenuity. Oh the good old days lol
    Just a few thoughts
I've decided to offer a $150 Steamers/The Steamery voucher [may actually wind up as two vouchers] for a mod building competition.

But so this doesn't favour the engineer with a cnc mill, extra points will be awarded for building with humble tools. If you can make a mod with only a hand saw and soldering iron, it will be looked on more favourably than something made in Laurie's famous "shed" [which is still eligible, it'd just want to be special]

I suck at judging, so will start a poll after comp completion for public vote.

Judging in 5 weeks from Sunday to give time to order parts and build. That's 26th June

If you are unsure about electronics/safety, please ask. Hoping to get dialogue going during the process.

Sorry the prize is humble, for some, it may not actually cover costs.

    Dan

Edit: ChrisCross has pledged a $50 voucher for second place. And FatMan jas pledged $30 to be spent at SuperSports600 ebay store for third place

edit: first entry in, from laurie9300

    Here's the Build Log............. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3D...ew?usp=sharing

I nearly called it "The Pipe Bomb", but thought that was probably a bad idea. "The Plumbers Mod?"

And video proof it actually works!

Your timing is spooky. We were tinkering with this just before lunch. Working out the dimensions of my first DNA 40 mod.

Not sure............the lacquer finish will be problem at this time of year.

Plus it will be a team effort which would not be fair to others.

At least you are allowed to use proper power tools.

Every time I pick up a proper power tool the electricity magically turns off.

that doesn't disqualify you, just raises the stakes

xx would also have to share prize with hubby, so it all balances out. And I can extend a bit towards the end if people are still tying up finishing
