    Cool Competition-Modify a Mod

    Following on from Mod Competition-Voting Thread

    Round 2 will be a “Modify a mod” competition.

    Not sure if we need judging criteria for this one, open to ideas.

    Thinking a soft date of 3 months from today, so 4th October. With opportunity to extend for anyone lagging behind a bit.

    There will be prizes, just unsure exactly what at this point. 3 months is a fair while to budget ahead.

    My thoughts are things should sort themselves out with level of involvement in modifying. Voters should, I guess, naturally favour dramatic transformations over subtle tweaks to a mod.

    We have 3 months to nut out the nitty gritty.

    I’ll enter this one, provided no one objects. See if I can’t squonk a non squonk mod or something.

    Edit: working this out as we go, btobw came up with the following:

    Entries, voting and prizes in two categories:

    Mod-a-mod: Changes to the structure/form of the mod; some of the original mod must remain, and, of course, cosmetic changes may also be made.
    * First: $150
    * Second: $100
    * Third: $50
    * Fourth: $25
    .
    Pimp my mod: Cosmetic, external changes only and/or very simple, beginner modifications for people just testing the modding waters.
    * First: $50
    * Second: $25
    * [Third: $25 if there are at least 6 entries in this category]

    Entrants may have multiple entries, including separate entries in multiple categories
    All entries must include a build log with photographs, and must have been commenced on or after 4 July 2016.
    Entrants nominate their category. However, voters should come down hard on experienced modders who replace a 510 connector with a store bought one and enter it in the "pimp my mod" category
    Tentative closing date is 4 October 2016, but this can be extended if anyone has started and needs extra time.
    There must be at least n entrants in each category, where n is the number of prizes in that category. If a category fails to attract n entries, the entries in that category will be transferred to the remaining category and the prize money redistributed.

    Voting criteria are really up to the voters, but things to consider might include safety, modder experience, aesthetics, ingenuity, skill, and the complexity and amount of work involved in the modification
    Anyone may vote, including entrants, but entrants may not vote for their own entry.
    Voting goes from n to 1 points, where n is the number of prizes in each category:

    Mod-a-mod: Structural changes to the mod.
    * First: 4 points
    * Second: 3 points
    * Third: 2 points
    * Fourth: 1 point
    .
    Pimp my mod: (to be increased to 3/2/1 if there are at least 6 entries)
    * First: 2 points
    * Second: 1 point
    .
    Voters should nominate n names for each category
    If a voter does not nominate the number of points, the points will be awarded in the order entrant names are mentioned
    Rules subject to change

    pretty standard modification, but potentially thinking of converting a parallel mod into a squonker

    I'm not in - I was hard pressed with studiovape's tricro coil challenge

    But I am up for $100 towards some sort of prize pool. Cheap for three months entertainment
