    Hoople in a shed

I've ordered a delrin and carbon fiber box from floris orca.

    And a dicodes board.

Stoopid me clicked default options with no drilled 510. I have a drill press. Thinking pilot hole, then quick taps so it doesn't jam up with shavings?

    Planning on documenting here anyway.

I've never worked with delrin. Even polishing it is all learning for me.

Send floris a message, he can help.

he also offers 22mm recess machining for flush 510 insatlls.

delrin is soft and easily machinable

Ive got a dna40 enclosure on the way to have a bit of fun with, see hoew it goes.

To drill the 510 hole (is it to be tapped?), I'd run a pilot hole through it the same size or slightly bigger as the point of the drill you will be using for the desired size (typically, that will be about an 1/8" ... 3mm), and then use the bigger drill. I don't believe using intermediate drills will help.

ETA: normal fluted HSS drill bits are fine, run about 400/500 rpm

Maybe, but better that you have your mind put at ease that drilling won't be a problem mate

DogMan - depending on the 510 you're looking to fit - I have a FDV Drill / tap combo - M10 X 1.0 Drill Bit/Tap Combo (SHOP - FatDaddyVapes.com - Home of the best vape tweaks and replacement hardware.) that I can loan you to drill and tap at the same time - I've used it a few times to fit FDV connectors to boxes . . . just run low speed in drill - with forward / reverse ability . . . Just PM me and we can organise ? We're both Melbourne base so . . .

step drill, 10-12mm step, couple of twists by hand and you're done for the VT 12mm connectors.
