L&D Mods proudly present: The Pallet Pine Woodie!

L&D Mods proudly present: The Pallet Pine Woodie!

Late last year I happened to cross paths with an old forum buddy: DaveJ!

DaveJ is accomplished in the art of woodwork, where I am more inclined to metalwork and electronics. We have often wondered what would happen if we combined our skills to make a mod. Unfortunately the vastness of Australia lay between us, and the chances of sharing a shed were zero.

This time we decided that wasn't going to stop us, and L&D mods was born. We used a shared Google Drive and email to discuss ideas, and decided to make our first attempt using "throw away" pallet timber. Auspost was also a critical part of this adventure.

laurie9300: "Big thanks to DaveJ for all the effort he put into this. I know it was a big learning curve and you really came through. I thoroughly enjoyed the process, and look forward to doing it all again...."

DaveJ: "I wish to express my thanks to laurie9300 for the help and guidance provided through this build. I look forward to further shared shed adventures together."

We would also like to extend a big "Thank You!" to emu, without him this may never have happened.

And here is what we achieved:

For a blow by blow account of this adventure, it's all documented here. Warning! This is a rather "pic heavy" 6Mb file.......

nice work Laurie. I have heaps of native tassie wood if you want to make something out of blackwood, blackwattle etc. I can do the stabilisation thing now too.

Thanks all for the kind comments. We both appreciate them.

Sometime ago Laurie asked of me: "Can we still do this by post?". Now I can say with confidence "Yes. Yes we can!"

These mods would not have happened if Laurie had not prompted me in the first place and was able to supply knowledge and skills I lack. Thanks again, Laurie.

Interesting you mentioning Blackwood MrGruffy. The front two blanks in this post The Random Things I Learned Today Thread are Blackwood.

One other thing whilst I'm here (since I won't be for long and am unlikely again anytime soon): Crisscross - your resin panels are simply stunning. I know many more than just the members here admire them.

    Cheers all.
