Hmm seems there might be something to this. Chromium oxide is a carcinogen, which could be forming when we oxidise our mesh

I think until the jury is in & the tests have been done that alternative methods of isolating the mesh from the coil are prudent to use.

    Here's one method being used:

I am personally thinking of using a single or double layer of cotton gauze around the top section of mesh & leaving the mesh unoxidised.
Using the drill bit method to make the coil means the coil does not cut into the wick & rests against the wick more lightly, this means the coil will be touching on the cotton & not on the mesh, which will isolate it electrically.

I'm just going to not oxide my mesh next time I wrap one.
Pulse it on a mech mod until it glows with no shorts.

I only glow with a bic lighter till it's dull red, roll it then juice burn.

    Not too worried.

I'll be trying the cotton / unoxidized method also.

I'd also like to try a ceramic wick if I can find some for sale, can't be arsed grinding one down myself...

Here is the Petar K method of setting up an unoxidized wick:

I think I will also move to unoxidised wicks - no biggy.

I'd rather oxidized wicks than ceramic.
