    Hello, is vaping for me?

    Hello,

I was recently recomended a starter kit by a work colleague and I purchased it and gave it a try.

I have diabetes. Things didn't work out to well, 3 puffs and I was not feeling well and I started having a serious hypo.

I am considering selling my starting kit and just continuing smoking.

Is this normal? I'd had my insulin for the day and my levels were fine before trying the kit.

Well you don't ingest any sugar from vaping to my knowledge.... however if you get a negative reaction.... proceed with caution and maybe consult a doctor?

Do you know what type of liquid was in the starter kit, or did it have pre-filled cartomisers, if it was a liquid what was the ratio of PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerin), some people can have reactions to VG or PG, did the liquid have nicotine in it if so how high?

I smoke very low mg cigarettes, the lowest.

Is it possible it was a reaction to the nicotine?

I felt sweaty, strange and my heart was beating really fast.

I had a can of coke and a mars bar on the way home and felt better.

    I will ask my doctor.

DishD, it was a menthol mix as I asked for some menthol as that is what I smoke.

I was told it was very low mg. It was very strong in taste. I smoke 1mg cigs and the mixture was higher than that. I think about 6mg.

Maybe it was a nicotine rush as i am not used to such high nicotine levels

If you bought the kit in Australia it would not have nicotine in it, if you bought it from oversea it could be, what brand is the starter kit, if possible a Link to it would be handy...

Vegetable glycerin, more commonly referred to as glycerol, is a polyol alcohol compound. Glycerol is a common food additive which works as a preservative, a sweetener, and thickening agent. Humans metabolize glycerol into a form of triglycerides, phospholipids, and possibly glucose. Since glycerol is an alcohol, it does metabolize like a carbohydrate, although it has a lower glycemic index than sucrose. Thus, it is likely to cause a small increase in your blood sugar, though the amount contained in your pseudo-cigarette is unlikely to make that increase significant (or perhaps even detectible). The bottom line: vegetable glycerin is generally recognized as safe and might produce a modest temporary elevation of blood sugar.

The bottom-bottom line: whatever risks might be involved with the intake of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin are clearly much smaller than the known risks of cigarette smoking. I applaud you in your decision and action to discontinue smoking. Nicotine is perhaps the most addictive drug to exist, so I highly respect your efforts.

Davo said he had a Hypo ,Which means Low sugar.

Davo, It may be the nicotine, a few years ago I used patches but kept smoking like a chimney and had the same symptoms.

DishD, it is an ego kit, I have the link at work but not here. I bouuht it online from an australian shop.

It came in a nice case with some juice which I gave to my colleage in exchange for some menthol juice with nictone in it.

The bottle has some writing on it but it is in my desk drawer at work.

Robray thankyou for the information, i will do some reading now.
