    Interestiing Conversation...

    Hi,
Just thought I'd relate a conversation I had the other day. I'm going into hospital in a couple of weeks for an operation and had a pre-admission medical check up the other day. On the admission forms was the question about smoking. Not sure how to answer as I haven't had a ciggy in 8 months but have been vaping ever since, I put a question mark next to the question.

I met with the anaesthetist, who looked at the form and said "So you are a smoker?". I explained I hadn't smoked in 8 months but had been using a PV and explained the process. He said that in his experience a lot of smokers had quit by vaping and believed that it would prove to be the most effective quit device ever produced. He said he had done some research and found no reason to believe that it was doing me any harm. He did go on to say "Of course as a health care professional, I would advise quitting both smoking and vaping, but if it is keeping you off the cigarettes then I can only say, keep doing what you are doing".

I found it really good to have a health care professional validate what I'm doing and be very supportive.

My doctor said the same thing.. then asked for information and links so he could direct other patients to vaping aswell. He even asked me to bring my PV to the surgery so i could demo it to him (which I did)

Similar story with a pre surgery meeting. As far as my anaesthetist was concerned the last day of smoking was the quit date. I queried the effect of vaping nicotine and he said it didn't matter to him. In the same way that chewing nico gum didn't count.

The same thing with my doctor, He looked so intrigued and inspired I thought he (a non smoker) had caught the bug. Writing down web-sites, info etc. I guess he was so inspired due to him possibly saving his patients lives.

My dad's a GP and I got him on the vapes about a month ago
I asked him last weekend if he has mentioned it to any of his smoking patients.
You bet he does, gives them all a demo then offers them a go!
I nearly pissed myself, so did my missus when I told her.

That's brilliant. My doc is also fascinated. He took photos of me vaping so he could research them and he always asks to see my new tanks when I visit.

yep my doc also is on the side of vaping he has his dad on a vamo and a protank. When he was telling me I got the impression the old guy wanted to start rebuilding.
My biggest fear is that I might die and my missus will sell my vape gear for what I told her it cost

that's priceless. Some doctors aren't money grubbing robots/human mechanics and actually use their brains.

I love doctors that think outside the box.

I've met some really bad specialists so puffed up on their title and their income that they literally breathed arrogance...

anyway i hope more doctors start to explore the evidence based literature and come to their own conclusions. My doc has been mildly encouraging, especially when advised my plans were to reduce the nicotine too.
