    Question Caterpillar Track

    Hey! I've just joined this forum! So I wasn't to sure where to post this!
    Anyway, I was just wondering! I just got some Caterpillar Track wire from Geek Vape Kanthal 28ga x 4 + 30ga
    I wanted to ask, how can I know what ohms my coils will come to?

    Maybe trial and error till the coil wrapping sites catch up with the new coils ?

    Dual coil, 7 wraps, 3mm id will give you around 0.14 ohms- 0.16ohms....

    Look at the image and the encircled items are the ones I've changed from the default. If you look at the bottom, there's a link How it works which explains the screen in more detail, though it is a bit technical at first.

    Inner diameter = size of the coil jig you'll be using
    Number of wraps = how many wraps you're planning to make, if the legs will face the same way then it's a x.5 (i.e. 5 wraps outside means 4 wraps only in between the legs so that's 4.5 wraps). If the legs face away from each other, then it's a whole number as you will be making a complete circuit

    In the Wire builder section:
    1. Select Clapton from the drop down list
    2. Since there are 4 core wires for the core, click on the + until you have 4 wires
    3. Default material is Kanthal A1 so leave that as it is. Select 28 AWG
    4. In the Wrap area, select 30 AWG.

    That's it. You'll see the Resistance is 0.446 ohms. That's for a single coil. If you're going to have dual coils, divide the resistance by 2 so it's 0.223 ohms for a dual coil set up.

    Other items of interest in the Results
    Heat flux/heat capacity - gives you an idea on how hot the vape will be
    Mass - gives you an idea on how long it takes for the coil to heat up. The more mass, the longer it takes.

    Just done a 8 wrap dual coil, 3mm id snow wolf reads it at 0.26ohms, couldn't find my ohms reader....
