    GST and vendors

    Why do some Aussie vendors charge GST on goods and others don"t ?

    They all do, some charge it included in the price some charge it as an add on to the price.

    I was wondering the same thing when I recently ordered and they added on the GST at checkout (I think on postage as well).

    Was a bit put off and nearly cancelled my order. Not sure that's legal if they're an Australian company.

    I thought companies only have to register for GST when they exceed a threshold turnover of AUD75000. Must be plenty of suppliers not turning over $1400 per week and therefore not needing to levy GST.

    A bricks and mortar store can't display exGST prices but an online store that sells to the world can. The reason being only Australians pay GST.

    It's not hard to have a price with a Gst inclusive price underneath. How many people really are going to buy stuff off a Au site from other country's?
