Difference between dry-burning and just plain burning

Question number orange divided by elephants

I'm confused. But that's easily done.

What's the difference between dry-burning and just burning an atty? :\

    No comprende.

I mean, I've already accidentally burnt an atty AND a clearo.. Lol.
So I don't understand why dry burning wouldn't just burn it in exactly the same way.

when you burn an atty, it has juice in it, after a while, a week say, the heater has blank gungy deposits on it, depends on juice, voltage etc..

a burnt taste is that gunge burning a bit .. the temperature is still held down by the juice supply.

dry burning is removing the juice source, then i usually rinse with water to rid as much juice as possible, then use the heater to first dry the device .. then keep going .. once the heater gets red hot it burns the gunk off the heater, keep going till it stops smoking.

now you cant do it in a carto with fill obviously, needs to be a device that does not melt.

done correctly, it pretty much removes all the black gunk from the heater and the silica wick.
done incorrectly, it can kill the atty ir even kill the battery.

its interesting watching the resistance change on the ECDmeter actually, it will drop resistance substantially then increase instantly as soon as the ower is removed, very weird.

Well I tried to burn off the.. burnt bits.. Lol.

    TASTED EVEN WORSE.

Gah. Is it because it's a 510-T atty? Can it not be done? Or was it just to far gone?

its very hard to clean the T attys. especially the 510t .. if it tastes worse, you have not gone anywhere near long enough. it takes maybe 10 minutes of on off burning before it stops smoking, takes 5 minutes before it even starts smoking!

best i found for 510 t is bicarb and vinegar trick.

get some ego C attys, i take the top off and a dry burn takes 20 seconds.
i reckon i can bring one back to near new in just over a minute.

I always boil the atty after dry burning too, but otherwise as Stoney said.

Oh. Hah. I watched a youtube vid, and the dude said about "six times, holding it [the button] for about 10-20 seconds each time" Doh.

Guess I'll do it for longer. I'd written the atty off as buggered, so if I completely stuff if, no loss

Do I literally just boil it? Throw it in a pot?

yep, before doing the boil though, do the vinegar bicarb trick, works a treat..

just 2/3 fill the atty with bicarb soda, pour in some vinegar and hold finger over top so it foams through the atty.
    then boil it
if that don't clean it .. bin it

Sometimes you can pop the coil when dry burning too, just be aware of that.
If you pop the coil it won't fire any more
