    Vape Friendly establishments?

    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has come across any Vape friendly establishments in Canberra? As yet I haven't been game to try vaping indoors so haven't come across any.

Not from Canberra. But I think this is a good idea to start listing establishments in capital cities. Sorry for hijacking!

I vape everywhere and have not been asked not to as yet. That said, I do it stealthy like, not with big clouds of vapor. I've not seen anyone vaping 'in the wild' here yet.....

I saw someone vaping in the middle of Broadway Shopping Centre (Sydney) a couple of months ago. I'd never be brave enough, or at least wouldn't have the energy to debate anyone if questioned. I've not seen anyone vaping inside anywhere else, but I think a list for each city would be a great idea if anyone has more experience.

Edit: I work in a servo and I had a guy vaping outside - still a reasonable distance from the pumps. A woman with her child came to the counter in hysterics: "HE'S SMOKING! HE'S SMOKING! Does he WANT TO BLOW US UP AND DIE." A closer look revealed that he was not in fact smoking anything, and to the crazy woman's dismay I told her what he was doing is fine as there was no source of ignition and, if she was in any doubt, he was a good 20ft away from the pumps regardless.

As a side note though, I'd discourage people from vaping at petrol pumps. Not because there's necessarily any danger, but from a servo console it's difficult to tell the difference between cigarette smoke and vapour, and with all sorts of visual obstacles it can be impossible to see what someone's actually holding. If you don't want us to push the "emergency stop all" button, I'd suggest waiting the extra 2 minutes to avoid wasting your own time and potentially dealing with several other inconvenienced customers. :P The one time I encountered the situation, the guy was so stubborn about it and didn't appear to understand this logic. He would not let it go, even after I told him I was also a vaper. Don't be "that guy".

i vape everywhere .. almost. I stealth vape indoors tho .. supermarkets or shopping centres, very little stealth..

casinos .. in the smoking area. too many cameras and people watching them.

discussed before, no point listing places as its the staff on the night making decisions. only takes one bouncer or barman or even a patron to get a nose out of joint.

Stoney - what about a list of cafes and restaurants? Surely there must be at least a few inner-city / inner suburbs places that have policies on this.

hey don't let me stop you
places that are owner operated or low staff count are obviously going to be more useful to list, but hell, unless you are organising a vape meet, what difference does it really make.

Unless we have vaping rates comparable to smoking rates, then it's no fun being the only vaper smoking indoors. I like being forced to go outside with other smokers....it's quite enjoyable and nice being in the outdoors.

Still I commend those taking one for the team, I guess we have to start somewhere.

I have a post up somewhere about vaping at servos .. an ecig is more likely to ignite petrol fumes than a cigarette is .. there is a remote possibility of a spark, not high .. but possible. job for the mythbusters
Also .. you are sucking fumes into the device and vaping them .. perhaps nasty. more toxic than uncooked fumes ? who knows.

only a wanker would vape at a pump. thats just plain common sense.

I think, typically, the greater concern with cigarettes at the pump are the lighters / matches used beforehand. I've read studies that prove it's virtually impossible to ignite fuel with a lit cigarette alone. Still, a nonsensical thing to do regardless.
