WTT: Reo Grande Black Wrinkle door for a different colour door!

I bought a used Black + Black Reo Grande from a guy on the ECF a while ago and only received it yesterday (I'm really enjoying it so far!). I went and saw my local Powder Coating guy and he said it would cost me $55 to get the colour changed. So I was wondering if anyone on the AVF would like to do swapsies with me The body isn't in the best shape but the door is a solid 8-9/10 condition. I'll post pictures upon request! I'm looking for anything rather than black really but my preference is white/bright coolours

You could also polish off the paint/powdercoat yourself off the door.. bit of elbowgrease , nice shiny polished door
or pop into hardware , grab spray can of Hammerite in either textured or flat and do it yourself ....hardy and pretty

I was hoping someone would comment with something like this! Thank you

So are you saying that I could just spray the Hammerite right over the excisting powder coat or do I need to sand it off anyhow?

Read this directly from Hammerite Re: preparation Direct to Rust Metal Paint - Hammered Finish
Choose the correct product though for preparation.

    ^^^^ What He said
A light rub with sandpaper and a good wash in detergent will give you a good base for the new topcoat to stick too ... I like hammerite in either hammered or smooth finish , its quite self levelling when you apply it and almost as tough as powdercoating . if you go back to bare aluminium you will need to use the primer , but if you dont , you should be able to topcoat ... put a drop on first to see if there is a reaction tho ( usually not )

Would that work on a MVP. That would be neat to change the colour.

    Cant see why not
Just remember to test paint a bit first , wait 1 hour ... if no reaction good to go .... if there is , then its a complete strip off job , or a once over with primer before the topcoat .
( its really only older enamel paints that give you the reaction most times )

I have a couple of SS that I could play with first. I hate wraps so this could be very cool.

The same for people with vamo's or cheap chrome

Oh one extra thing EDSKI .. if you go down this path , be extra careful you dont put a thick layer on the door rails .. they are a fine fit usually and too thick a paint will make it hard to slide .... Paint door , then with cotton bud or similar wipe the door channel along the sides of the panel to remove excess paint
