    FastTech - what the?

Hello. I just ordered some goodies from fasttech. Due to some of the items being flagged by Paypal, I had to pay via my debit card. Everything seemed to go ok, but shortly after, I got this email from them

Thank you for ordering from FastTech.

To protect our customers like you, our payment processing bank has requested us to contact you to verify ownership of the credit card used for this order.

The verification process is easy. Please follow these steps:

    1. Take a picture of the front of your credit card using your phone, camera, or a scanner. For your security please do NOT take a picture of the back of the card, where your signature and your CVV number are located.
    2. Login to our support site: https://support.fasttech.com/tickets
    3. Under open tickets, click on the ticket number of this ticket.
    4. Scroll down to the reply > upload attachments section, and upload the picture you have just taken.

As soon as your verification is received, we will present that to our processing bank and your order will resume shipping.
Is this normal/legit? I already gave them my CVV number when I paid, so I don't see how this is protecting me, lol.

    Thanks

There is quite a lengthy explanation on the fasttech forum. It is a genuine process.

Same happened to me not long ago.

I told them their request was unacceptable.
I also asked for a picture of the bank official who requires this verification - still waiting.

Never had an issue with Paypal from FT. I suppose it's a good thing they are verifying it's your card

hmmm dunno about sending pics of credit card personaly - had a look on their forum - found this... "Paypal doesn't allow transactions for ecig related merchandise. If PP has flagged an item as ecig-related in their database then What you can do is buy a gift certificate (if your country allows that) or buy an item of equal value, and cancel said item, getting a gift cert as reimbursement.

Then you can use the gift cert to buy.
